General Information:
  • In-service points may be awarded to teachers for visitation to another classroom to observe CTE/FCAT Projects being implemented.
  • The visitation must be a minimum of three hours in length; therefore, teachers can observe in 2-3 successive planning periods to accumulate the three hours.
  • This observation must be approved by a school administrator.
  • The visitation must be for an instructional area related to the teacher's job role.
  • Teachers will be required to submit a report and have signed verification of the visitation by a school administrator.
  • The teacher observing will earn 3 in-service points .
Pre-Approval:
  • Pre-approval is required by School Administrators only.
Activities:
  • The visitation to observe another classroom is to gain information on CTE/FCAT Projects.
Hours/In-Service Points:
  • The visitation must be a minimum of three hours in length , although the visitation could occur for one or more hours per day within a two-week period. In-service points will be awarded at the rate of one (1) point per hour of classroom visitation not to exceed a maximum of six hours.
Procedures:
  • Secure approval from the school administrators for the visitation.
  • Following your visitation, complete the Classroom Visitation In-Service Request form and have your school administrator sign the form to verify the visitation.
  • Attach a report describing what was learned and how you are going to use it to impact student achievement. An emphasis must be placed on how your learning will impact your job role and ultimately increase student achievement. The report must be presented in a typed format and reflect a quality that represents the standard for the education profession. The report must be completed independently by the participant for the sole purpose of this study.
  • Submit the Classroom Visitation In-service Request form and the final report to the Staff Development Department, EDC, within 30 days of completion of your classroom visitation.
Approval for In-Service Points:
  • Please allow two to three weeks for your in-service request to be reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted; otherwise, once approved, your in-service points will be entered into your in-service record.
